The project’s final plat received the approval of the Elgin City Council last week. Councilman Corey Dixon abstained from the vote because he lives in the neighborhood, he said.
The last phase is the southeast corner of the subdivision, located at the end of Doral Drive, said Marc Mylott, director of community development. The subdivision entrance is off Bowes Road, east of Corron Road.
Toll Brothers plans to build the homes on 34.9 acres, with lot sizes ranging from 10,000 to 18,000 square feet. The house models available will be the same as those already been built in the existing subdivision, Mylott said.
The 608-acre Bowes Creek property was annexed into Elgin in 2003 and surrounds the 18-hole Bowes Creek Country Club. When completed, the subdivision will have more than 650 single-family homes and about 280 town homes, Mylott said.
Hubert Loftus, senior project manager for Manhard Consulting, has been working on the project for 20 years with various engineering firms.
“This is the final phase. It’s been a great project, a great experience working on it,” Loftus told the Elgin Planning and Zoning Commission in November. “It’s a great piece of property.”
Toll Brothers are “interested in getting this last phase completed, approved and teed up for the spring so they can be in a position to start (selling homes) in the spring,” Loftus said.
