Former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is signing with the Vikings, according to reports Wednesday.

Jones will join the Vikings’ practice squad less than a week after the Giants released the former No. 6 overall draft pick.

Sam Darnold has helped the Vikings start 9-2. Jones joins Nick Mullens and Brett Rypien in the Vikings’ quarterback room. Rookie first-round pick J.J. McCarthy had season-ending knee surgery in August and a second procedure on his knee earlier this month.

The 27-year-old Jones went 24-44-1 as a starter with the Giants. His best season was in 2022 when the Giants went 9-7-1 and beat the Vikings on the road in the first round of the playoffs.

Jones has completed just 63% of his passes with eight TDs and seven interceptions this season.

RB J.K. Dobbins suffered a sprained MCL during the Chargers’ 30-23 loss to the Ravens on Monday night and is expected to miss this week’s game against Falcons, ESPN. Dobbins will be week to week moving forward. The 25-year-old has 766 rushing yards and eight rushing TDs this season.

College football: Alabama A&U LB Medrick Burnett Jr. died on Tuesday after a collision during a game in October that left him hospitalized for a month. He was 20. Burnett transferred to Alabama A&M in 2024 after one season with at Grambling.

Golf: LIV Golf reportedly is expected to hire former NBA and NHL executive Scott O’Neil to replace Greg Norman as its CEO and commissioner. If a deal is finalized with O’Neil, an announcement could come as early as next week. O’Neil worked as CEO of the 76ers starting in 2013 and later oversaw the NBA franchise and the NHL’s Devils as CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment.

NBA: Nets G Cam Thomas will miss three to four weeks with a left hamstring strain, ESPN reported. Thomas, 23, is averaging career highs across the board this season: 24.7 points, 3.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 46.1% shooting from the field and 38.9% shooting from 3-point range.

Soccer: Luis Suarez and Inter Miami agreed to a one-year contract extension for nex season, the team announced Wednesday. The financial terms weren’t disclosed. Suarez made $1.5 million this year in his first Inter Miami season, one in which the Uruguayan striker scored 20 goals — tied with Lionel Messi for the team lead — in MLS regular-season play and a team-best 25 goals in all competitions.
