



Two people were arrested during narcotics investigation last week in Macomb and Wayne counties that netted police more than a dozen weapons, drugs, and thousands of dollars in cash.
The County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) said in a news release that officers on June 26 executed multiple search warrants at several locations, including one in Eastpointe.
Detectives said they’ve seized 5 ounces of fentanyl, an ounce of cocaine and fentanyl mixture, 6 ounces of cocaine, 6 pounds of marijuana, and 13 firearms with 3 having filed off serial numbers and 1 gun was reported stolen.
“COMET also seized approximately $8,500 with intent to forfeit,” detectives said.
Investigators said two people have been arrested and were being held in jail with additional arrest warrants being forwarded to the respective county prosecutors, authorities said.
Investigators did not reveal the name of the suspect or charges they face.
COMET was assisted by MNET, MSP’s 2nd District Headquarters, FBI, and Chesterfield Police Department.
COMET is an undercover drug task force made up of officers from Chesterfield Township, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Shelby Township, and federal agencies.
The investigations were supported by Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) awarded by the U.S. Justice Department and administered by Michigan State Police.
