An altercation between two students at Benjamin Franklin High School in Highland Park resulted in a lockdown on Wednesday after one student was stabbed.
The attack occurred around 8:30 a.m., just outside the school at the front of the campus. The campus went on lockdown, but all instructional programs and food services continued, the Los Angeles Unified School District said in a statement shared with the local community.
Details on the circumstances leading up to the stabbing were not released. One student received medical treatment and was in recovery after being stabbed in the face, officials said.
KTLA5 reported that the suspect fled into a nearby neighborhood. According to the LAUSD, the student was later taken into custody.
“Counseling services and support will be provided for students and staff impacted by this incident.
