The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial in Royal Oak to host Wild Game Dinner and Shotgun Sports Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Multi-Lakes Conservation Association, 3860 Newton Road, in Commerce Township.

The event will raise funds toward the completion of The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial in Royal Oak. The memorial is the state’s official tribute to Michigan’s home front and warfront contributions in the war that changed the world.

Skeet and trap shooting will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sporting clay circuit shotgun start is at 2 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m. for the 5:30 p.m. wild game dinner prepared by Chef Charles “Rocky” Rachwitz. The after-dinner program features Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard.

Participants are invited to take in the beautiful fall colors at Multi-Lakes Conservation Association grounds as they enjoy an afternoon of shotgun sports, including trap and skeet shooting. There will also be an opportunity to play the new $250,000 state-of-the-art Multi-Lakes sporting clay circuit. Participants must bring their own shotgun and ammunition, (7.5, 8 or 9 shot).

Following an afternoon on the range, enjoy a delicious wild game dinner prepared by Chef Rocky Rachwitz, who formerly co-owned Steve and Rocky’s in Novi. The dinner will include roasted leg of venison au jus, elk and rabbit sausage in peppers and onions, fried walleye, and semi-boneless quail with bacon wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese.

The event is a fundraiser for The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial and is open to the public. Reservations for all shotgun sports and dinners must be made and paid for in advance. The deadline for dinner reservations is Sept. 20. Attendees do not need to participate in the shotgun sports to attend the dinner and program. Registration for all activities, including dinner, can be made at The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial website at michiganWW2memorial.org.
