Country singer Sam Hunt was arrested recently after speeding and violating an interlock device, police say, but he has managed to avoid charges in the situation, according to People magazine.
People reported that the 40-year-old was jailed Jan. 20 after police accused him of the infractions. An interlock device prevents drivers from starting their vehicle unless they pass a breathalyzer test.
The magazine reported that Hunt was released on $1,500 bond and that a rep for the singer said his lawyer “cleared the paperwork in court this week, and the star will not face charges.”
People reported that Hunt was arrested in Nashville in 2019 on charges of driving under the influence and open container and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor related charges in 2021. Because of that, he lost his driver’s license for a year and had to have the interlock device installed.
Patti Smith collapses onstage during concert
Patti Smith, one of the most influential figures in the early punk rock scene of the 1970s, collapsed onstage Wednesday while doing a show in Brazil.
Smith, 78, was performing with the group Soundwalk Collective, according to The Guardian, when she passed out about 30 minutes into the show while reading a piece about climate change.
She was taken backstage via a wheelchair but then returned to apologize for having to cut the performance short.
“Unfortunately, I got sick, and the doctor said I can’t finish,” she told the crowd from the wheelchair, as seen in a video from the event. “So we will have to figure something out. And I feel very badly.”
She then proceeded to sing two songs, “Wing” and “Because the Night.”
Smith took to Instagram Thursday to downplay any cause for concern, insisting that she was “fine” — “I had some post migraine dizziness. ... I was checked out by an excellent doctor and was absolutely fine” she continued. “With all the strife in the world, this explainable incident does not merit so much attention.”
Wonder, Wilson and more added to Grammys lineup
Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Coldplay singer Chris Martin and Lainey Wilson head the list of artists who have been added to the performance lineup for Sunday’s Grammy Awards telecast. Other new additions announced Wednesday include Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo, Brad Paisley, John Legend, St. Vincent, Janelle Monae, Brittany Howard and Jacob Collier.
The Sunday night telecast from Cyrpto.com Arena in Los Angeles will include a tribute to producer Quincy Jones. He was a mentor to Wonder, Hancock and Collier, among many others.
