



Inland Empire high school students got a chance to learn about health careers during a conference at UC Riverside.
The Health Professions Conference is organized each year by Reach Out’s Inland Health Professions Consortium.
The March 14 event included speakers and workshops. It drew about 400 youths and 75 teachers and health professionals, states a news release from Reach Out, which has offices in Upland and Jurupa Valley.
Schools attending included the Biomedical Science and Technology Academy at Chino High School as well as San Bernardino’s Cajon High School, Colton High School, Yucaipa High School and Patriot and Rubidoux high schools in Jurupa Valley.
The opening speaker, Dr. Evita Limon-Rocha, shared her journey into the medical field to become a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist.
Other speakers included California Baptist University Professor Ed Garrett and Dr. Geoffrey Leung, Riverside County’s public health officer.
