Lupe Harris of Woodland passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025 at the age of 95, with her family by her side. Lupe was born in Westwood, California to Victor and Luisa Cano on November 27, 1929. She was the oldest of 7 siblings: Fabian, Alex, Rosalie, Alfred, Grace, and John. Lupe grew up and attended schools in Westwood and in Greenville. Lupe moved to Woodland with her family in 1949. She met and married the love of her life, Bob Harris in 1950. They had two children together, a son, Robert E. Harris, Jr. and a daughter, Diva Lynn Harris.
As a young lady Lupe was the second place winner in a beauty pageant. Lupe worked for the cannery when she was first married then became a homemaker when her children were born. She was a talented seamstress and would make quilts and clothing for family and friends.
She also enjoyed ceramic painting.
Lupe was devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her granddaughters and especially enjoyed camping with them in her motorhome. To her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Lupe was “Nannie.”
She loved planning family get-togethers. Lupe was very active in the Woodland Seventh Day Adventist Church serving as a Deaconess and managing Dorcus for many years. She taught Sabbath School and attended campmeeting every year.
She will be lovingly remembered by son, Robert E. Harris, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Diane Harris; granddaughter, Melissa Day and her husband Matthew Day; granddaughter, Tiffany Smith and her husband Joe Smith; great-grandchildren, Ava Smith, Violet Smith, Quinn Smith, Lola Day, and Emma day. Preceded in death by her father, mother, her husband of 67 years, her beloved daughter Diva Lynn, and brothers, Alex Cano, Alfred Cano and John Cano.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2nd from 9:30-10:30 at McNary’s Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. Funeral Service to follow.
