It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Luz Garcia, who left us peacefully on February 2nd, surrounded by her loving family. She was 68.
Luz was born on August 16, 1956, in Michoacán, Mexico.
She was the third of eight children born to Javier, a hardworking farm worker and handyman, and her loving mother, Teresa, a devoted homemaker. Growing up in a close-knit home, Luz developed a strong sense of family values, compassion, and a joyful spirit that she carried throughout her life.
In 1976, Luz and her family moved to the United States, settling in Bell Gardens, California. Determined to continue her education, she attended Bell Gardens Adult School. Shortly after, she began working at a convalescent home, where her caring nature and dedication to helping others shone brightly. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jesus Garcia. Their shared compassion and work ethic brought them together, and soon after marrying, they welcomed their beloved children: Jesse, Lizeth, Edgar, and Javier.
While raising her family, Luz continued to work in the same convalescent home, balancing her professional and personal life with grace and unwavering dedication. She was the kind of mother who would drop everything to help her children, always putting her family’s needs above her own. Her heart swelled with pride at each of her children's accomplishments, whether in their careers, personal lives, or as they built families of their own.
Family was everything to Luz, but she also found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to dance, take long walks, and engage in heartfelt conversations that left those around her feeling cherished. Her laughter was infectious, and her warm, thoughtful nature made everyone feel welcome. She was often the life of the party, lighting up any room she entered with her beautiful smile and kind spirit. She was never cruel or unkind—always sweet, loving, and thoughtful.
A devout Catholic, Luz was deeply committed to her faith and community. Her spirituality and unwavering belief in God provided strength and guidance throughout her life.
Luz is survived by her devoted husband, Jesus; her beloved children, Jesse, Lizeth, Edgar, and Javier; and her cherished grandchildren: Nathalie, Rudy, Jonathan, David, Grace, Hope, Adrian, and Ryan. She also leaves behind her father, Javier, and her siblings, Dolores, Guadalupe, Javier, Martin, Rosalba, Maria, and Ramon.
She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Luz’s funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, at 9 am, at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4201 Whittier Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90023. Victoria Baez is handling arrangements, and any inquiries can be directed to 323-301-7493.
Luz's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she has left this world, her love, laughter, and legacy will remain with us forever.
