Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes and the Falcons maintained their hold on first place in the NFC South with a 27-21 victory Sunday over the struggling Cowboys, who took their third straight setback and lost quarterback Dak Prescott to a hamstring injury.
Cousins completed 19 of 24 passes for 222 yards, including 13 in a row at one point for the host Falcons (6-3). He had scoring plays of 9 yards to Drake London, 36 yards to Darnell Mooney and 11 yards to Ray-Ray McCloud, the third three-TD game of the quarterback’s debut season with the Falcons.
Tyler Allgeier capped the Falcons’ fifth win in six games by powering into the end zone from 6 yards with just over 11 minutes left.
The Cowboys (3-5) tried to rally behind backup QB Cooper Rush after Prescott was ruled out, having completed 18 of 24 for 133 yards and a TD.
Rush guided an 86-yard drive in the closing minutes, capped by a 4-yard TD pass to Jalen Tolbert and 2-point conversion. But the Falcons recovered an onside kick to seal the victory.
It’s the longest losing streak for the Cowboys since a four-game skid during the 2020 season, which is also the most recent time they finished with a losing record (6-10).
RB Bijan Robinson had 19 carries for 86 yards and hauled in a team-high seven receptions for 59 yards.
Commanders 27, Giants 22: Rookie QB Jayden Daniels threw two TD passes to Terry McLaurin, and the Commanders won on the road for their best start to a season in almost 30 years. The Commanders are 7-2 for the first time since 1996 after completing a season sweep of the NFC East-rival Giants.
Ravens 41, Broncos 10: Lamar Jackson threw for 280 yards and three scores to finish with a perfect passer rating, and the Ravens rolled at home. Zay Flowers had five catches for 127 yards and two TDs, and Derrick Henry rushed for 107 yards and two scores. Henry scored the 100th and 101st rushing TDs of his career, and he has now surpassed 1,000 yards for the sixth time in a season.
Bills 30, Dolphins 27: Tyler Bass kicked a career- and franchise-long 61-yard FG with 5 seconds left, Josh Allen threw three second-half TD passes in a back-and-forth duel with Tua Tagovailoa, and the host Bills beat the Dolphins for the sixth straight time.
Chargers 27, Browns 10: Justin Herbert passed for 250 yards and two TDs to lead the visiting Chargers to their third victory in the last four games. The Chargers defense produced three INTs and six sacks.
Bengals 41, Raiders 24: Joe Burrow tied a career high with five TD passes as the Bengals earned their first home win. Chase Brown had a career-high 120 rushing yards in the victory.
Panthers 23, Saints 22: Chuba Hubbard scored on a 16-yard run with 2:18 remaining and the host Panthers ended a five-game skid. Bryce Young completed 16 of 26 passes for 171 yards a TD in the win. The Saints lost their seventh straight.
Titans 20, Patriots 17: Nick Folk kicked a 25-yard FG with 2:32 left in OT, giving Titans coach Brian Callahan his first home victory.
