David Marion Cavanaugh passed away peacefully. He was 93 years old.
A lifelong Alamedan, he attended the former Haight Elementary, Alameda High School, and UC Berkeley, and graduated with an MBA in 1952. While at Cal, David joined the Alpha Chi Ro fraternity and played trumpet in the marching "Straw Hat Band" in the Rose Bowl Parade. Most importantly, he met Joan, and they were married in 1953.
David served as a Lieutenant in the Army Medical Service Corp from 1953-1956 in Frankfurt, Germany. David later joined his father Leo, brother Lee, and business partner, Bill Bean at Bean & Cavanaugh, which later became Cavanaugh Motors, California's second oldest Chrysler dealership that served the Bay Area from 1919 to 2006.
David is survived by his wife Joan, four children, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
