Three librarians earn state awards

Three Oakland County school librarians were recognized by the Michigan Association of School Librarians (MASL) at an awards ceremony on Nov. 2 in Ann Arbor.

Troy High School librarian, Toni Isaac, Rochester University Hills Elementary librarian, Lisa Kelley, and Birmingham West Maple Elementary library PTA coordinator, Amanda Kill, were honored for their contributions.

Isaac received the 2023 MASL Roger Ashley Freedom to Read Award, which recognizes someone who demonstrates exemplary support for First Amendment rights.

Kelley received the President’s Award, which honors outstanding individuals who have made a unique contribution to the profession.

Kill received the Service Award for Adult Volunteers, which recognizes a volunteer who has made outstanding contributions to a library/media center program.

The MASL has a membership of 400 school librarians and educators representing Michigan school districts, universities and educational programs.
