Unofficial election results released late Wednesday show Fontana voters supporting Measure T, a 1-cent sales tax increase.
Measure T, if passed, would provide an additional $46 million to Fontana’s coffers, according to an impartial analysis prepared by the city attorney.
As of 4 p.m. Nov. 6, Measure T was passing with the support of 52.62% of the city’s voters. The measure needs 50% of the vote plus one vote in order to pass.
Two City Council seats were on the ballot.
In District 2, the incumbent, Peter A. Garcia, ran unopposed.
In the three-way race for the District 3 seat, incumbent Jesus “Jesse” Sandoval leads with 41.73% of the vote, Joe Armendarez follows with 34.88%, and Gabriel Sanchez trails with 23.16%, according to unofficial election results.
The San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters expects to update results at 4 p.m. daily until all votes are counted.
