Later in 1957 future husband Bill was introduced for a date. We continued dating until we were married on November 27, 1959. Our 1st apartment was in El Cerrito.
IBM gave us job security and a solid foundation for the future in Feb. 1960. Daughter Lisa was born in 1961.
That year we moved toour first house in San Ramon. An IBM transfer led to amove toSan Jose in1962 where we bought a new house on Nord Lane in May 1963. Linda was born in 1964. Followed by Laura in 1968. In 1970 we moved toWalden Square in San Jose. We had been looking for more space and Mary found this great house.
As the years advanced Mary went to SJ City College securing a 2nd AA degree - this time in Accounting. It served her well as she began working for accounting firms -ADP, then CPA firms inSan Jose, Tucson and Morgan Hill over the years. She was an excellent Accountant &did a great job managing our personal family finances.
Mary retired from active work in 1999. We were in San Jose until 1986 when Bill was transferred to IBM Tucson and on returning we bought ahouse in Morgan Hill in mid 1991. We are located close to 4 of our 7 grandchildren and 11 of 12 great grandchildren. This set up many enjoyable gatherings for us.
She was a great seamstress. In our early years Mary made many of her clothes & the daughters clothes. She was an avid reader of fiction, non fiction, and Newspapers.
Mary enjoyed crossword puzzles. She had a great memory, was a very good cook and shopped well. She was an excellent hostess for family and friends in our home. She continued in Zeta Tau Alpha Alumni eventssocial &helping to start new chapters plus serving as a District President. She was blessed with outstanding social graces and ability to organize. She had a love of travel.
Early in our marriage we toured the west. On our 13 week Bicentennial trip in 1976 we went through 34 states, seeing 11 family and friends. The family took many great experiences from these trips. We are members of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library foundation.
We are former attendees of The Methodist Church, Trinity Presbyterian Church of San Jose and the CMA churches of San Jose and Tucson.

A man could not have not asked for a better life partner, mother, grandmother, or great grandmother. While being independently minded she supported the many decisions required as we went through our journey together - employment, finances, houses, cars, and events. Above all, the family was her biggest priority- as the generations followed they were her pride and joy.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 pm March 6at Oak Hill (Chapel of the Roses) in San Jose.
Contributions may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church of San Jose, Wounded Warriors, Tunnel to Towers, or Zeta Tau Alpha in honor of Mary Elizabeth Jump.
