Age 77 of St. Paul, MN
Passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Jack was born in Duluth, MN, following his high school graduation, Jack enlisted in the Marines serving in the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart for his heroic actions.
Jack was an athlete and was a national judo champion and an Olympic athletic contender. He was a Ramsey County Deputy, where he was a defensive tactic instructor.
He retired in 2005 and gained an interest in both current and historical events. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Huot; his sisters, Dianne Olson and Marcie Lyle of Duluth, MN; his stepchildren Brian Rood, of Barnesville, MN, Chad Rood (Fahari), of Tanzania, Africa, and Anton (Braden), Mount Vernon, IA; his in-laws, Denise Packard (Bill Borchardt), Peggy Huot, Tony Huot (Pat), John Huot (Angela), Bob Huot (Linda); and nine grandchildren, who always referred to him as “Grandpa Jack.”
Amemorial service will be held in the Spring at Fort Snelling. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ramsey County Community Support Services.
