Daily Camera girls golf player of the year Peyton Mraz of Holy Family and Longmont Times-Call honoree Wendy Cheruiyot of Niwot led seven players from the BoCoPreps coverage area on CHSAA’s all-state teams.
Mraz, a junior, finished third at the Class 3A state tournament back in May and was one of three players to make the first team for the Tigers, who won the 3A team title by 31 strokes over runner-up Mullen in Greeley. Fellow junior Steffi Heitz finished fifth and sophomore Acadia Curtis seventh. Heikke Nielsen, meanwhile, was named 3A’s coach of the year.
Cheruiyot was a first-teamer in 4A after the sophomore finished sixth at the state tournament at Broadlands Golf Course in Broomfield. She was joined by Monarch junior Pippa Cooper, who was seventh.
In 2A, 2024 3A champ and Daily Camera player of the year Hope Torres of Prospect Ridge Academy took fourth in the inaugural 2A tournament in Pueblo. The senior was named to 2A’s first team, while Jefferson Academy sophomore Paige Danforth made the second team, placing 19th.
