Beloved and devoted husband of Alma. Loving father and grandfather of Bruce (Judy), Susan (James O’Neill), Chris (Stephanie), David (Yuko), Fiona, Andrew, Ian, Torstein, Zoë, Hawea, Evan, Alec.<br><br>Donald was born in Brainerd; he moved with his family to St. Paul when he was three years old. He graduated from Central High School and obtained B.S. and M.D degrees from the University of Minnesota.<br><br>He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during WW2. He practiced internal medicine until he was 69; after that he volunteered for many years at the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.<br><br>He was a kind and gentle man. We will miss him greatly.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Doctors Without Borders or the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.<br><div><br></div>
