Petaluma

It is with the profoundest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother Daren Michael Fonseca on December 2, 2025.

Daren was born in Petaluma in 1972 on Christmas Eve portending a celebration of birth and renewal -indeed that is what he brought to his family. He is preceded in death by his father Daniel Alfonso Fonseca. He is survived by his mother Carole Fonseca and brother Michael Daniel Fonseca.

Daren graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in 1991. During his high school days he volunteered at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital assisting the patients with myriad needs to make their stay as comfortable as possible.

Caring, thoughtfulness and attentiveness were hallmarks of his personality. Most of all he enjoyed conversations with the patients. He went on to a 19 year career at Kaiser Foundation Hospitals as a Patient Care Technician where he was recognized at various points for his excellence.

A talented writer and calligrapher, he honed his craft through many hours of practice and study. His notebooks with his musings and thoughts are something to be enjoyed.

He had a love for animals, having had three dogs -- H.T., Suzette and Bogey whom he cared for deeply and loved. He also enjoyed film scores, soundtracks, concerts and theater.

We remember him as thoughtful, sensitive, talented and caring person; a wonderful son and brother. He will be greatly missed and the world will be much emptier without his presence.

Friends are invited to celebrate a Funeral Mass on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma, CA. Interment, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Petaluma.
