Sunnyvale
Howard passed peacefully at home. He was the beloved husband of Anita and loving father to his daughters, Catherine and Carolyn, and sons-in-law, Juergen and Matthew, and grandfather to Luke and Jenna. He worked in the aerospace industry as a"rocket scientist" and lived a life of service. He was a Commander in the U.S. Navy, serving his country for nearly three decades: first in active duty during the Korean War and then in the Naval Reserves, including commanding a Sea Cadet squadron. He was a Stanford Athletics fanatic, who volunteered as Head Docent at the Stanford Sports Hall of Fame. At the Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church he served in many roles: elder, deacon, usher, and others. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, camping, skiing, and walking his dog Goldie. Howard was always up for sharing a smile, story, and joke with family, friends and neighbors. He will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 10, 2025 at 3pm at the Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church. Contributions in his honor can be made to the American Heart Association.
