Reba McEntire and Carly Pearce were among those who shared their heartbreak Friday following the news of country music legend Jeannie Seely’s death.

Seely, 85, died on Friday at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee, due to complications from an intestinal infection.

“I’ve always loved this woman!” McEntire wrote on X while sharing a photo of herself with Dolly Parton and Seely. “She was a little spitfire, opinionated team player! Rest in peace, Jeannie.”

Pearce posted a longer post laying out her close relationship with Seely.

“When I was in my early 20s, Jeannie and I got to know each other because she lived down the street from me,” Pearce wrote on X. “She quickly took me under her wing, inviting me to go backstage at the (Grand Ole Opry) knowing it was my dream to play there. Since then, she has become one of my biggest mentors and dearest friends. She celebrated my successes, let me cry on her back porch in private & helped welcome me into the Grand Ole Opry family.

“ I can’ quite put into words what this woman means to me, the opry & country music … but I know there will be a hole in my heart forever,” she added.
