The seniors are sticking around.
PGA Tour Champions, the 50-and-older circuit that features golf’s stars of yesteryear, has agreed to a one-year extension to keep playing The Ally Challenge at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc through 2026.
That leaves open the possibility that Tiger Woods could return to Warwick Hills, where he won three times on the PGA Tour, including the final Buick Open in 2009. Woods turns 50 in December 2025, and is expected to play a limited schedule on the Champions Tour.
Woods hasn’t played a tournament in Michigan since the Buick Open in 2009.
“We are thrilled that this tournament will continue to be played in Grand Blanc through 2026,” said Erin Stone, director of business development and community relations for The Ally Challenge.
Ally Financial and McLaren Health Care will remain as the primary sponsors of the tournament.
The Ally Challenge launched in 2018, bringing pro golf back to a storied course where the PGA Tour once set up shop for nearly 50 years. Ally Challenge champions have included Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Vijay Singh and Stewart Cink, who won the tournament in 2024.
The 2025 Ally Challenge will be played Aug. 22-24, the same days that LIV Golf will be playing its season-ending team championship at The Cardinal in Plymouth.
“Genesee County has a rich tradition with the PGA Tour, and for the past seven years The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren has grown that relationship through a strong commitment to charity and benefiting the communities in which we live, work and play,” the Ally Challenge said in a statement, responding to the news last month that it’d be played opposite of LIV Golf in 2025. “The annual PGA Tour Champions stop at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc is part of the fabric of the community and has raised more than $8 million and counting for charitable organizations in Southeastern Michigan and beyond since the tournament’s inception.
“Michigan has some of the best fans in golf, and The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren offers an incredible week of fun, highlighted by the unique opportunity to see the legends of the game competing at a historic golf course.”
