Martin (Marty) Kornfeld passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s on July 2, 2024. He is survived by his four daughters and their spouses, Erica Marcy (Kevin Marcy), Jill Friedman (Bill Friedman), Lindsey Kornfeld (Taylor Chittick), and Hannah Kornfeld, and his brother and sister-in-law Gary Kornfeld and Ellie Halperin; as well as by his three granddaughters Jenna, Sylvie, and Maya.

A native of Brooklyn, NY he built a successful business for himself alongside his father Samuel in the garment industry of New York. He loved a good negotiation, and even more, a good deal. After moving to California, he continued to work in the garment industry while learning the ways of suburban life. He spent many days hiking Mt. Tam with the dogs and his family, and playing tennis with his infamous “moonball” shot. He quickly became of fan of the outdoor lifestyle of Northern California. He was best known in his Ross circle for commanding a room with stories about life in NYC and keeping everyone laughing.

After retirement, he enjoyed traveling to visit his kids both abroad and domestically, spending time in the New York area with his grandkids, and countless rounds of golf with friends and family. He spent many years hiking with his loyal Guide Dog breeder dog Solo, and girlfriend Emily in Fairfax. He thrived in his position as a member of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury, and a “puppy transport” driver for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Marty never shied away from a good meal, a chance to tell a story, a game of gin, or a competitive round of pinball.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association or Guide Dogs for the Blind. A Celebration of Life will be held in August in Marin County with details to come.
