For the fourth time in the past five years, the Colorado football team will open the season with a non-Saturday night game.
On Friday, the Big 12 Conference and television partners ESPN and Fox announced 10 games selected for Fridays during the 2025 season, including two games for the Buffaloes. Kickoff times and TV selections for those games will be announced at a later date.
CU will open its season against Georgia Tech on Friday, Aug. 29, at Folsom Field. Two weeks later, the Buffs will play their Big 12 opener at Houston on Friday, Sept. 12.
The Buffs had Friday night season openers at Folsom Field in 2021 and 2022, and opened the 2024 season with a Thursday night game against North Dakota State. This year will be the 11th time in 13 seasons that CU has had a non-Saturday season opener, the exceptions being 2020 and 2023.
The 2025 season will be the seventh time in the past eight seasons that CU has had at least two non-Saturday games, the only exception being the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign.
CU and Georgia Tech will be meeting for the first time. The matchup with Houston will be the second-ever between the two and the first as Big 12 rivals. CU won the previous matchup, 29-17, in the 1971 Bluebonnet Bowl.
