Riverside’s Deafestival is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The event is set for Sept. 14, at Riverside City Hall. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It will feature American Sign Language poetry, performances, vendors, booths staffed by community organizations, food and a child activity zone.

The festival is one of several events planned in September to promote awareness of the deaf community.

Riverside’s Commission of the Deaf will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at city hall.

An exhibit from deaf artists can be viewed Sept. 17 at The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of The Riverside Art Museum.

A deaf community softball game with Riverside police is set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 28 at Hunter Hobby Park in Riverside.

ASL Storytelling Night will be Sept. 29 at the Main Library in downtown Riverside. The time is to be announced.

Finally, the California School for the Deaf, Riverside, football team will be playing home games Friday and Sept. 21. A home volleyball game is scheduled for Sept. 17.
