Resident of Alamo
Sue Ohanian passed away on February 10, 2025. She is survived by her husband Steve, her stepson Nick, stepdaughter Yara and grandchildren Alex and Emmi.
Sue was born in Los Angeles and lived in Southern California her entire childhood and early adult life. She graduated from UCLA with a BA and earned her MBA from USC. After she and Steve married in 1989 they moved to Danville, then Alamo.
Throughout her entire life, Sue loved the outdoor world whether in the garden planting or pruning (and, yes, she knew all their names), hiking, kayaking or snowshoeing.
Her love of the outdoors was her introduction to Save Mt.
Diablo where she started as a volunteer, became a Board member and remained connected to the organization until her death.
Sue also loved her animals - five yellow labs and Abby, a beautiful palomino mare during her married life and a horse when she was growing up. And then there are the birds. If she saw an interesting bird, she would stop whatever she was doing or saying to observe it and come up with its name.
Golf was another activity that Sue enjoyed with her many golfing friends in the Round Hill Women’s Golf Association (RHWGA). She was committed to the success of women’s golf, and very involved with RHWGA, serving as treasurer, co-caption and captain. In addition to supporting, organizing and executing tournaments she was an excellent, competitive golfer. Women that played with her enjoyed her friendly competitive nature as an accomplished golfer and all looked forward to the opportunity to have Sue as a partner. She will be greatly missed by the over 110 RHWGA members.
Through all these interests, Sue developed friends that she loved and had so many good times with. From all the cards, emails and text messages in her final days, it was clear that her family and friends that she loved clearly loved her back.
