Judith Mauser Solinsky passed away peacefully on August 4, 2023 in Burlingame, California, surrounded by her family.
Judy was born in Berkeley, California in September of 1939 and went to Berkeley schools until moving to Artois, where she attended and graduated from Willows High School. Later, she graduated from UC Berkeley and developed lifelong friendships as a member of Sigma Kappa. Judy married Frank Solinsky almost 61 years ago. Judy and Frank moved to Chico in 1967, then to Lake Almanor in 2000.
They moved to the Bay Area in 2005 to be close to all her family.
Judy was classically elegant; known for her kindness, poise, intellect, wit, and grace. She had a strong sense of direction and firmly believed in good education.
Judy was proud of her daughters and grandchildren’s academic accomplishments and work ethic. She was an avid reader and often enjoyed reading many books simultaneously.
Judy was a member of PEO and Omega Nu. She valued giving back to the community and served on the Butte College Foundation Board and the Lassen Park Foundation Board. Judy loved to hike and climb Mt.
Lassen, Broke Off Mountain, the Caribou wilderness, Pulgas Ridge, Echo Lake, and Squaw Valley.
Judy also enjoyed travel and traveled all over the world with Frank, her daughters, and her grandchildren. On her 50th wedding anniversary, she took the entire family up the inland passage to Alaska.
We feel Judy in the eternal beauty around us and the laughter and joy she instilled in her loving family. Judy will be forever cherished and honored by those she leaves behind, including her sisters Sally and Lynn; her husband Frank; her daughters Janet and Susan; three grandchildren, Chloe, Catherine, and Frankie; and son-inlaws Paul Duryea and Tom Owen. Instead of flowers, please consider donating to the Lassen Park Foundation, Butte College Foundation or taking a walk in the beautiful parks of Chico in her memory.
