Crete
BATTERY ALLEGED: Charles Jernagin, 45, Chicago, was arrested and subsequently charged with aggravated battery after hitting and scratching an officer during an early morning April 14 domestic battery investigation near Cornwall and Denell drives, police said. Jernagin is also charged with domestic battery, possession of a controlled substance, aggravated fleeing and resisting arrest, according to court records, which show he was convicted in February of felony domestic battery and placed on two years’ probation.
Evergreen Park
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: James G. Carroll, 42, Chicago, was arrested March 26 after hitting a security officer in the head during an argument at a credit union in the 9000 block of Kedzie Avenue, police said.
Frankfort
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Jose Delgado-Solis, 46, 20600 block of Grand Haven Drive, Frankfort, was arrested April 6 in that block and accused of aggravated domestic battery, police said.
Harvey
TRUCKLOADS TARGETED: Police reported 17 18-wheeler trucks and semi-trailers were burglarized between April 1 and April 7, primarily in Harvey’s industrial areas and particularly near Lathrop Avenue and Dixie Highway. The dashboard computer module was stolen or stripped in each case, police said.
AGGRAVATED ROBBERY: Matthew Johnson, 40, Gary, Indiana, is scheduled to appear April 27 in Cook County court at Markham, charged with aggravated robbery and delivery of a controlled substance in connection with an April 5 hold-up of a gas station in the 15800 block of Wood Street, according to police and a court spokesperson. Johnson held the station door open, intimating he had a gun, while a male and a female accomplice took cash and merchandise, police said.
Homewood
FATAL CRASH: Jermaine Henry, 21, 1400 block of Freeland Avenue, Calumet City, was arrested March 27 and accused of aggravated fleeing and eluding/causing injury or death after a collision involving a semi-truck at 183rd and Halsted streets resulted in the death of his passenger, police said. Officers previously attempted to stop Henry for speeding but disengaged before the collision occurred, police said.
DUI CRASH: Yinka Adesegun, 53, 3300 block of 184th Street, Homewood, was arrested March 30 and accused of drunken driving, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision, failing to remain at the crash site and no proof of insurance in connection with a collision at 184th Street and Kedzie Avenue, police said.
Lansing
DUI CRASH: Aris L. Webb, 37, 19700 block of Terrace Avenue, Lynwood, was arrested March 16 and accused of drunken driving, driving on a suspended/revoked license, lane violations, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and illegally transporting alcohol after colliding with a tree in the 18300 block of Torrence Avenue, police said.
Midlothian
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Richard J. Deese, 34, 14400 block of Springfield Avenue, Midlothian, was taken into custody April 10 during a search of his home and subsequently charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, police said. Deese’s arrest stems from the April 6 shooting of a man by two masked men outside a bar in the 14600 block of Waverly Avenue, police said. The shooting victim was treated for a nonlife-threatening wound to the neck, police said.
New Lenox
STORE BURGLARY: Security video at a gas station in the 400 block of East Lincoln Highway shows a man entering through the back April 8 and removing 20 cartons of cigarettes.
RECKLESS DISCHARGE: Ryan J. Mettille, 21, 100 block of Central Road, New Lenox, was arrested April 10 after discharging a firearm in that block, police said.
Oak Lawn
CAR FIRE: A March 31 fire that damaged the front passenger side of a car parked in the 11000 block of Keating Avenue may have been intentionally set by a person who had previously sent threatening messages, police said. A Fire Department investigator confirmed the fire didn’t start from electrical wiring, police said.
DEALING ALLEGED: Dajon King, 27, Chicago, was arrested March 31 in the 4800 block of Southwest Highway and accused of possessing 30-100 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver after officers recovered a digital scale and 19 sandwich bags, each containing 3½ grams of marijuana, police said.
Orland Park
IDENTITY THEFT: Miesha D. Bowens, 37, Chicago, was arrested March 19 and accused of identity theft and possession of fraudulent identification at a store in the 15800 block of La Grange Road after attempting to open a line of credit to purchase furniture selling for $13,003 with an altered driver’s license belonging to another person, police said.
Park Forest
GUN STOLEN: A .380-caliber handgun was reported stolen March 24 from a vehicle parked in a residential garage on Monee Road.
DUI CRASH: Ivey L. Williams, 32, Gary, Indiana, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and driving without proof of insurance during a March 29 crash investigation on Western Avenue near Steger Road, police said.
OFF-ROAD DRIVING: Torrion V. Brown, 45, 12300 block of Peoria Street, Calumet City, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. March 30 and accused of drunken driving, driving on the sidewalk and stopping in the roadway after an officer found him parked in the front lawn of the former Rich East High School, police said.
Robbins
GUN POSSESSION: Ivan Enriquez, 19, 14000 block of South Palmer Avenue, Posen, is scheduled to appear in Cook County court at Markham April 18, charged with unlawful possession of a loaded weapon in a vehicle, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device and drunken driving, according to a court spokesperson. Deputies arrested Enriquez March 19 near 135th Street and Kedzie Avenue and determined he was too young to qualify for a state gun permit, Cook County sheriff’s police said.
Will County
DUI CRASH: Stephanie Mae Sowell, 31, 300 block of Stuart Road, Lockport, was accused of fleeing after hitting a juvenile on a scooter March 30 in the 300 block of Stuart Road, according to Will County sheriff’s police and court records online. She was charged with drunken driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, leaving the scene of a crash, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision, illegally transporting alcohol, driving on a license expired more than one year, and no proof of insurance, court records show. The youth was treated for a leg injury at a hospital, sheriff’s police said.
