Bochum’s goalkeeper was struck on the head by an object apparently thrown from the stands at Union Berlin and both Bundesliga teams left the field. When the game resumed, they ran down the clock without trying to score.

Patrick Drewes was preparing to take a goalkick at 1-1 in added time when he was hit by an object with a similar size and shape to a cigarette lighter. He sat down and was given medical treatment.

The referee suspended the game and led both teams off the field.

Nearly half an hour later, the game resumed and Drewes was replaced by striker Philipp Hofmann. With about three minutes left of the game, both teams agreed to not try to score.

Players passed the ball around the field, walked and had conversations with opponents while waiting for the referee to declare the game over.

Bochum coach Dieter Hecking said Drewes was being taken to hospital.

The Aggies (9-2) have won five straight. Payne had season-high totals in points and rebounds with nine. All-SEC guard Wade Taylor IV finished with 15 points and five assists before an injury forced him to leave with 1:36 to play.

Braden Smith led the Boilermakers (8-3) with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists. Fletcher Loyer had 12 points as Purdue lost for the second time in three games.

No. 2 Auburn beats Ohio State >> Johni Broome had 21 points and a career-high 20 rebounds to lead the Tigers to a 91-53 win over the Buckeyes.

Broome, a senior forward, added six assists in the first 20-point, 20-rebound performance of his career.

Golf

Lee wins LIV event >> Lee Chieh-po birdied four of his last five holes for a 7-under 64 in the morning and closed with a 68 in the afternoon to win the LIV Golf Promotions, giving the 30-year-old from Taiwan a spot in the lucrative LIV Golf League next year.

Lee, who goes by the nickname “Max” given to him when he was 6, won by two shots over Branden Grace and Taichi Kho.

Only one person from the promotions event earned a spot in LIV Golf.

Kinhult leads Alfred Dunhill championship >> Marcus Kinhult will take a two-shot lead into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship as the Swedish golfer bids to win his first title on the European tour in 5 1/2 years.

Kinhult got up and down for birdie from a greenside bunker at the par-5 No. 18 to shoot 3-under 69 in the third round on Saturday. He was 14 under for the tournament.

Kinhult’s second-round lead was trimmed by one stroke at Leopard Creek Country Club, with Ryan van Velzen moving into second place after a bogey-free 65 that included an eagle 3 at the 13th.
