The FACE of Fiber in the Rockies National Fiber Exhibit had a grand opening on Friday, June 6, and a grand opening it was! We had 12 artists attend the reception some as far away as Virginia and California. We had three wonderful judges take on the difficult task of selecting the award winners of a very diverse group of fiber artists. The FACE show is so diverse it takes a wide range of knowledge to select fiber pieces for awards.
All judges are nationally known as teachers and in their field of expertise: Jean, Scorgie, weaver, Sue Sears quilter, and Margaret Tullis a wide variety of fiber arts baskets, paper, beading, knitting, crocheting and on and on. This year, judges had 57 pieces to select 11 award winners. The pieces were selected for the quality of their work, their originality, and variety of methods. The 11 awards were 3 Specialty Awards sponsored by three national organization-Complex Weavers, Surface Design Association, and the Handweavers Guild of America, 3 Excellence Awards, a Founders Awards and Best of show. Congratulations to all the artists!
The Art Center is open daily from 11am-5pm. Don’t miss this show!
