Archbishop Mitty High senior Evangeline “Evie” Marheineke, a Santa Cruz resident, won her third West Catholic Athletic League individual cross country championship on Wednesday.

Marheineke, committed to compete for UCLA next season, completed the 2.95-mile course at Crystal Springs in Belmont in 18 minutes, 0.63 seconds.

Marheineke made a move just after the first mile and no one responded.

Saint Francis of Mountain View senior Sabrina Zanetto took second 18:14.60 and was followed across the finish line by three of her Lancer teammates.

Monarchs junior Alessia Carbone, a Scotts Valley resident, took 24th in 20:52.5.

The Lancers (21) won the team title. Mitty (103) took fourth out of seven teams. The Monarchs compete next at the Central Coast Section championships at Crystal Springs on Nov. 16.

Girls flag football

Soquel 32, at Santa Cruz 6 >> Hailey Betterman made three touchdowns three touchdown receptions on passes from quarterback Katie Niizawa, and the Knights closed the regular season with a win Wednesday night to earn a share of the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League title.

Soquel (8-2) shared the league title with Scotts Valley and Aptos.

Trinity Wilson scored two touchdowns for the Knights (8-2). One came on a pass from quarterback Eliza Stevens, and the other came on a 63-yard interception return.

Chloe McGilvray scored two extra points.

Santa Cruz’s Dahlia Montesinos completed a touchdown pass to Charlotte Gill. Gill also made an interception for the Cardinals (4-6).

Scotts Valley 20, Aptos 12 >> Claire Skinner, Gracie Delgado, Lilly Rittenhouse each scored a touchdown, and the Falcons won their SCCAL finale to earn a share of the league title Wednesday night at Santa Cruz High.

Scotts Valley (8-2) shared the league title with Soquel and Aptos (8-2).

The Falcons’ Sammy Rebbert scored a two-point conversion.

Scotts Valley’s Soraya Westlund had two interceptions and four flag pulls for Scotts Valley (8-2), and teammate Natalia Laploll with one in interception and five flag pulls. Claire Skinner had four flag pulls and three pass deflections, and Citiali Lopez also had four flag pulls.

Harbor 20, San Lorenzo Valley 6 >> The Pirates beat the winless Cougars in their regular-season finale at Santa Cruz High on Wednesday night.

Harbor (2-8) hosts the SCCAL Tournament on Saturday at 9 a.m.

No. 6 SLV plays No. 3 Aptos at 9 a.m., and No. 5 Harbor hosts No. 4 Santa Cruz at 10 a.m.

In the semifinals, No. 1 Soquel faces the SLV-Aptos winner at 11 a.m., and No. 2 Scotts Valley faces the Harbor-Santa Cruz winner at noon.

The championship takes place at 1:30 p.m.

Women’s volleyball

Hartnell 3, at Cabrillo 1 >> The Seahawks lost 15-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-17 to the Panthers in their Coast Conference North Division match Wednesday.

Cabrillo (9-17, 4-5) hosts Las Positas (12-7, 6-3) on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
