2024 presidential election
There is a political adage that “we get the government we deserve.” Hate and fear mongering have won. Good luck America.
— Robert Welborn, Long Beach
The come back president
His opponents tried their best to discredit him, bankrupt him, impeach him, put him in jail and on two attempts, assassinate him. The corrupt and biased New York court systems charged him as a felon over frivolous indictments, but Donald J. Trump did not bend.
His love for country, his four great years as president which allowed for prosperity, secured borders, no new wars, energy independence and peace in the Middle East, along with hundreds of supporters and rallies over the past 12 years energized him to run again.
By the grace of God, Trump survived the assassination attempts. He promised to end the wars and make our country prosperous and safe again.
With his heartfelt demonstration of patriotism and leadership acuity, let us give him the opportunity he is so deserving of to make “America Great Again.”
— Martha Morrissy, Downey
Glad this election is over
I’m more than glad the election is over. In the last two months, every day brought more and more political flyers, just more trash to deal with.
If both parties would stop fomenting hate, they could suspend partisan politics as they do when bills for their pay raises and better benefits come up.
I realize there’s not much chance that anything will change but if it did, I’d be much happier and the nation would be a better place to live.
In the past I tried to vote for the candidate most qualified. In my opinion, neither of them were qualified.
I had to use my sure alternative way deciding which one to vote for i.e., which one will do me the least amount of harm? This country is in a sad state of affairs, forcing me to pick a candidate the way I did.

Trump’s victory
Trump’s victory gives new meaning to “justice delayed is justice denied.”
