Detroit Lions star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was carted off the field with a serious injury to his left tibia on a sack of Dallas’ Dak Prescott.

Hutchinson will stay in the Dallas area for surgery, Lions coach Dan Campbell said after Sunday’s 47-9 win over the Cowboys.

Hutchinson’s leg appeared to snap above the ankle when it collided with the left leg of teammate Alim McNeill as Hutchinson was pulling Prescott down in the third quarter.

Hutchinson has 71/2 sacks this season.

There was a delay of about 10 minutes as medical personnel tended to Hutchinson while players from both teams made a large circle around the second overall pick in the 2022 draft.

After Hutchinson was loaded onto a cart with a cast on his leg, teammates and Dallas players reached over to pat the 24-year-old.

“He’s a guy who’s part of the heartbeat of this team, he’s a leader, does everything right,” Lions quarterback Jared Goff said. “And to have him go down like that, and be visibly upset is tough for all of us. But knowing him, he will be fine. He will bounce back.”

HARRISON JR. EXITS WITH CONCUSSION >> Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. left Sunday’s game because of a concussion after his head hit the thigh of Green Bay Packers linebacker Isaiah McDuffie.

Harrison tried to get up after the second-quarter incompletion, but appeared to stumble. He then headed into the injury tent and eventually walked into the tunnel.

Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said after the game that he was unsure about the severity of Harrison’s injury.

Harrison has 17 catches for 279 yards and four TDs for the Cardinals, who selected him out of Ohio State with the fourth overall pick in this year’s draft.

PANTHERS STICKING WITH DALTON >> The Carolina Panthers have lost three straight since quarterback Andy Dalton delivered a feel-good win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

That victory came just days after first-year head coach Dave Canales made a bold decision to bench Bryce Young. But Canales said he has no plans to go back to last year’s No. 1 overall pick, saying Dalton will start next Sunday at Washington despite a costly fourth-quarter interception in a 38-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Young has only seen the field in mop-up duty since being benched after two highly unimpressive starts to begin the season, which dropped his record as an NFL starter to 2-16.

Dalton finished 26 of 38 for 221 yards with two first-half touchdown passes and two second-half interceptions against the Falcons to fall to 1-3 as Carolina’s starter.
