It is just late October, and the normal date for the first accumulating snow (0.1 inches or more) is November 17, but here we are expected to experience 1-3 inches of snow just southwest of the city this Wednesday morning. Precipitation will likely turn over to all rain or drizzle during the day, then as the center of low pressure tracks from west to east just south of our area, we can expect more accumulating snow on Thursday. As colder air moves over our area, the precipitation will likely become snow area-wide, including the city of Chicago Thursday afternoon into the evening hours. Strong winds and temps in the upper 30s - creating wind chills in the 20s – this could end up being the coldest Halloween day in 89 years (high temp 39 degrees in 1930).
