The Colorado ski program fell short in its quest to land a repeat NCAA title. Yet the Buffaloes still put together an impressive run through the NCAA Championships.

The Buffs completed the four-day finals with the Nordic 20K freestyle events on Saturday, ultimately finishing second overall in the team standings in New Hampshire. CU finished with 513 points, edging third-place Dartmouth by five points but well behind the national championship pace set by Utah (590 points).

CU’s Tilde Baangman finished third on Saturday in the women’s 20K freestyle, earning first team All-American honors. It was the third consecutive top-two finish at nationals for the Buffs, who won the title last year and finished second in 2023.

CU finished championship week with 12 All-American honors, five of them first team. The Buffs have finished first or second at 14 of the past 19 national championships.

CU finished the opening day of the championships on Wednesday in first place after Filip Wahlqvist and Magdalena Luczak got CU off to a good start in the slalom races. Wahlqvist placed second in the men’s race, finishing just three-hundredths of a second behind the winner. Luczak finished third in the women’s race, with both skiers bringing home first team All-American honors.

The Nordic 7.5 classic competition took center stage on Thursday, and Will Koch added another first team All-American honor for CU after finishing fifth. Competing in his first collegiate race since January, Koch posted his seventh consecutive top-five finish while collecting the seventh All-American honor of his career. Baangman paced the Buffs in the women’s race, placing 10th for second team All-American honors.

Wahlqvist added a third-place finish in the giant slalom on Friday, with Etienne Mazellier finishing seventh. Luczak owned the top time in the women’s race through the first run but crashed and suffered an injury during her second run. Like the second day, CU finished Friday’s action in second place.
