Lincoln-Way East's O'Rourke keeps eye on bowl bids for 7 schools

Lincoln-Way East defensive end Devin O'Rourke had a rooting interest while watching Sunday's college football bowl announcements.
One of the top juniors in the state, O'Rourke has offers from Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, Syracuse, Iowa State and Central Michigan.
“I did keep track on who made the bowls and wanted to see teams are going to be in and which aren't,” O'Rourke said.
Four of the teams — Wisconsin, Northwestern, Indiana and Central Michigan — that have offered O'Rourke received bowl bids. Expect O'Rourke's list of offers to grow in the next few months.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound O'Rourke finished with 95 tackles, including 19 for loss, and nine sacks. He's the No. 2 recruit in the class of 2018 according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings.
O'Rourke fills all the boxes that top-level college coaches are looking for: Tall, big, strong and versatile. He showed his ability to adjust to playing different positions by playing inside and at end on the defensive line.
“I like playing outside the best,” O'Rourke said.
O'Rourke, also a wrestler, said he made visits to Illinois and Wisconsin late in the football regular season, and plans to attend junior day at Illinois and Indiana.
“I'm waiting for when the football season gets over with to see what's going on better,” he said. “I have a few junior days that I'm probably going to.
“I really want to see what's going to happen with recruiting, and curious what schools are going to contact me and see if they will follow through and offer me or not. Once I see what happens, I'll make a decision from there.”
She has interest from several schools, with Elmhurst as her main suitor.
“I have just interest and am talking to a few schools right now,” O'Donnell said. “I'm not ready to give up basketball just yet. I'm looking for the right fit for me, and that's why I haven't committed yet.
“I'm exploring all my options, and I want to be able to have a good academic and athletic balance. That's very important to me.”
Led by O'Donnell's play in the post, the Warriors are 7-0 this season. She has worked on becoming a well-rounded player.
“I think I'm definitely taking on a larger role for the team compared to the last few years,” she said. “We lost some big scorers, and I had to step up that way.
“I worked on extending my game more to the outside because I've always shown a strong inside presence, but I wanted to show I could shoot from outside.”
