City Council formally OKs minimum wage

Boulder’s City Council on Thursday night unanimously approved a new local minimum wage plan that will deliver 8% yearly increases in 2025, 2026 and 2027.

The current minimum wage in Boulder and in Colorado is $14.42. In Boulder, it will rise to $15.57 on Jan. 1. Minimum-wage workers and emergency service providers say the increases won’t be enough, but some local companies say a big increase in the minimum wage could put them out of business.

The Colorado Center on Law and Policy estimated that in 2022, the most recent year for which statistics were available, a single adult with no children would have needed to make at least $19.44 per hour to be able to afford to live in Boulder County.
