


A Hobart man was taken into custody Friday morning after a tip to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department led to the seizure of almost $50,000 in cash, several guns and more than 130 pounds of drugs, according to a release.
At approximately 7 a.m. Friday, the Lake County Drug Task Force and Lake County SWAT team executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home in the 500 block of South Lawrence Street in Hobart.
Officers seized: $49,766 in U.S. currency; three pistols and three rifles; 49.5 pounds of raw marijuana; 1.2 pounds of packaged marijuana; 5.2 pounds of pre-rolled cigars or cigarettes containing marijuana; 38 pounds of gummy THC edibles; 45.4 pounds of wax (concentrated THC); 1/2 pound of mushrooms; and 1,010 THC vape cartridges.
Police received the tip on the department’s Tip411 mobile app. The man, 20, is in custody pending criminal charges, according to the release.
“I would like to commend the Lake County Drug Task Force and Lake County SWAT team for their hard work and professionalism in bringing this suspect to justice,” Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. said in a statement.
