The Woodland Police Department is set to host its own “National Night Out” event this summer, hoping build a bridge between the community and the officers sworn to protect them.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

National Night Out strengthens the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement, fostering a sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

The Woodland Police Department is planning a three-hour-long event on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. across town. For more information, contact Vanessa McKenzie at (530) 661-7875 or email crimeprevention@cityofwoodland.gov.
