SAN JOSE — San Jose International Airport saw fewer passenger trips last month when compared to the same time period last year, but upcoming new flights to a pair of notable U.S. cities could help lift its numbers.
According to the airport, the South Bay travel complex handled about 880,100 passengers during March — a 5.4% decline compared to March 2024. Over the one-year period that ended in March, San Jose International Airport handled 11.65 million passengers — 1.1% below 2024’s numbers.
While those figures represented a slight dip, the 880,100 passenger trips in March were 17.9% higher than the 746,200 trips in February. In December 2024, the airport saw 1.02 million passenger trips.
The lower passenger numbers for the first three months of 2025 extend last year’s slump.
The 11.77 million trips in 2024 were 2.7% below the 12.1 million passengers the airport handled in 2023, statistics show.
Those numbers could increase moving forward after an announcement by Delta.
The airline plans to add nonstop flights to Las Vegas starting May 7 and to Detroit starting July 7.
Bookings are now available for both cities.
