Raymond "Ray" Crowder was born September 9, 1930 in Liberal, Kansas and died peacefully, at the age of 94, in Longmont, CO with his wife, Jean Crowder and sons, Jeff and Steve by his side on June 2, 2025.

Preceeded in death by his parents, Lotha Crowder and Vern Crowder, sister Kay (Crowder) Loeppke and brother Hugh Crowder. Ray married (Emma) Jean Bush on March 18, 1951.

He graduated from the CU School of Business in 1952, where he was voted Outstanding Senior Boy. He served in the U.S. Army, then returned to Boulder with his wife, Jean, where they raised their two sons, Jeffery Alan Crowder, and Steven Ray Crowder. He worked for Moore Business Forms for 17 years. He then operated his own antique and furniture repair shop, called "Past Perfect Shoppe" in Boulder from 1974 to 1995.

He was active in the First Christian Church of Boulder for over 40 years, where he sang in the choir and served in several leadership roles. He made the journey with the church to its new home in Lafayette, CO, as Cairn Christian Church.

He was an accomplished drummer and a master woodworker.

He delighted in his grandchildren and he loved his family and friends. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee, a nice glass of wine and deeply cherished each hour he could spend at the family cabin in Raymond, CO. He offered up good humor and frequent profound wisdom.

Ray is survived by his wife, Jean, of 74 years, his sons: Jeff (Barb) Wilkins-Crowder, Steve (Cindy) Crowder, and four grandchildren: Shawn Crowder, Jessica (Levi) Cheney, Alie (George) Gomes, and Aaron Wilkins-Crowder. Donations may be made to savethebees.com.
