A driver was hospitalized late Sunday night after crashing a car on Interstate 57 near Oak Forest, police said.

Keith Cobbins, 24, of Chicago, was cited for driving under the influence after veering off the road and rolling his white sedan down the side of Interstate 57 near the 167th Street exit at 11:43 p.m. Sunday, according to Illinois State Police. Cobbins was also cited for driving with a suspended license, improper lane use, failure to wear a seatbelt and for operating an uninsured vehicle, police said.

Cobbins was heading south on the interstate when he ran off the right side of the road, causing the car to roll over, police said.

Oak Forest and Markham fire departments responded, said Oak Forest fire Chief Gary Kasper. When crews arrived, Kasper said they found vehicle overturned and severely damaged, lying off the roadway.

Cobbins was extracated and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with serious injuries, said Kasper and state police. Kasper said his condition is not known.
