Outscoring their first two playoff opponents a combined 37-5, the Mavericks are into the semifinals in their inaugural season as a program.

On the back of an 11-game winning streak, Mead will face No. 3 Evergreen at Englewood High School Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the two teams’ second meeting this month. The Mavericks beat the Cougars 13-8 on May 4 behind five goals from University of Michigan commit Allie Hartman.

4A boys

No. 2 Erie 15,

No. 15 Green Mountain 1

The Tigers made an emphatic statement in their opening playoff game, holding the Rams scoreless over the final three quarters.

Erie was coming off a regular-season finale loss to defending champ Cheyenne Mountain but bounced back by punching its ticket into the quarterfinals for a third straight season.

The Tigers will host Telluride Tuesday at 4 p.m.

No. 6 Northfield 6,

No. 11 Dawson 3

Junior attacker Leo Bellanca added to his state lead in goals with his 68th and 69th goals of the season, but the Mustangs fell in the second round.

Holden Walker also scored in the loss and Trace Anderson had 12 saves in net.

5A boys

No. 8 Denver South 12,

No. 9 Monarch 10

The Ravens were up to the task of defending their home turf Saturday, snapping the Coyotes’ three-game win streak and ending their season in the second round of 5A play. Monarch finished 13-4, its most wins in a season since 2019.

5A girls

No. 4 Cherry Creek 8,

No. 5 Fairview 5

The Knights lost to Cherry Creek for the second time this season, bowing out in the quarterfinals.

It was the fourth straight year Fairview reached the state quarterfinals.

Senior Cami Johnson, a University of California-Davis commit, came into the game averaging four goals per game.
