


FREMONT >> A motorcyclist died Sunday after a vehicle accident that blocked Interstate 880 lanes, authorities said.
A possible crash on northbound I-880 south of Automall Parkway was reported shortly before 6:20 p.m. Sunday, California Highway Patrol Officer James Evans said.
CHP officers found a motorcycle rider lying in the road’s left lane suffering from major injuries.
Fremont Fire Department firefighters provided emergency life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the crash site.
The person’s identity was not available, pending next-of-kin notification by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau.
There were no other reported injuries, Evans said.
CHP officers issued a Sig-alert at 8:39 p.m. closing the roadway’s two left-most lanes. All lanes reopened shortly before 9 p.m.
