


Seniors Casey MacConnell, Andrew Pursley, and Logan Brantley each won two individual events to lead Aptos High’s boys track and field team past Soquel 103-30 in the teams’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League meet Thursday.
MacConnell took first in the 200-meter race (22.92 seconds) and long jump (21 feet, 4 inches), Pursley took first in the 800 (2:08.60) and 3,200 (10:34.03), and Brantley took first in the shot put (51-9) and discus (153-0).
Aptos took first in the 4×100 relay (43.51) and 4×400 relay (4:03.73) and earned wins from sophomores Ethan Henry (300 hurdles, 46.65), Sam Hansen (400, 51.44), and Anthony Sandford-Carroll (1,600; 4:33.81).
Soquel senior Logan Walters took first in the 100 (11.34) and 110 hurdles (17.57), and classmate Nolen Westfall took first in the high jump (5-11) and triple jump (39-5).
Aptos freshman Jack Hansen and Soquel junior Jack Cash tied for first in the pole vault (10' 6)
At Santa Cruz 70, San Lorenzo Valley 45 >> Senior Dylan Hermanson, and juniors Kaden Steel and Sebastian Williams each won two individual events in the Cardinals’ SCCAL meet win Thursday.
Hermanson took first in the 100 (11.61) and 200 (23.61), Steel took first in the 110 hurdles (19.94) and 300 hurdles (46.28), and Williams took first in the shot put (37-4) and discus (103-3).
The Cardinals won in the 4×400 relay (3:43.22) and also received wins from senior Eli Fitchen-Young (800, 1:58.69), and sophomore Kai Rogers (1,600; 4:52.20) and Amadeo Dorsey (pole vault, 7-0).
SLV freshman Finn Lonsdale took first in the high jump (5-10) and triple jump (37-5), and the Cougars junior Daniel Peabody (400, 56.91) and sophomore Colton Scarborough (long jump, 17-7.5) also earned wins.
SLV also took first in the 4×100 relay (46.95).
Scotts Valley 79, at Harbor 66, St. Abraham’s 25, Mount Madonna 20 >> Freshman Vincent McDermott took first in the 110 hurdles (20.25) and 300 hurdles (50.51) to pace the Falcons in their SCCAL quad meet win at Harbor on Thursday.
The Falcons also received first-place finishes from their 4×400 relay (4:02.77), juniors Anton Khomenko (100, 11.47),Vaughn Chomentowski (long jump, 19-5.25), and sophomore Jackson Stull (800, 2:09.06).
Daymen Magnuson-Chappell took first in the shot put (35-7) and discus (82-8) to pace Harbor. The Pirates also saw senior Luke Wyland (200, 23.00), junior Oliver Willet (1,600; 5:16.63), and sophomore Mateo Ortega (400, 56.97) earn wins. Harbor also won in the 4×100 relay (45.98).
St. Abraham’s junior Bryson Trent took first in the high jump (5-8), and Mount Madonna senior Mordecai Coleman took first in the triple jump (33-7.75).
Girls
At Aptos 107, Soquel 28 >> Senior Izzy Graff, sophomores Kenzie Culbertson and Scarlett Stateler, and freshman Lila Gilbert each won two individual events in the Mariners’ SCCAL win Thursday.
Graff took first in the 100 (13.15) and long jump (15-4), Culbertson took first in the 800 (2:31.07) and 1,600 (5:21.27), Stateler took first in the shot put (26-10.5) and high jump (4-6), and Gilbert took first in the 100 hurdles (22.27) and 300 hurdles (1:02.54).
Aptos also won in the 4×100 relay (50.28) and 4×400 relay (4:25.86) and earned wins from seniors Natasha Newcombe (400, 1:02.71) and Sophie Cornish (3,200; 15:50.47) and sophomore Bella Hartnett (200, 26.47) and Ellie Marta (discus, 101-1).
Soquel junior Lia Chiaramonte took first in the triple jump (28-10.5), and Knights sophomores Juliet Dunton and Claire Nordahl both cleared the highest height in the pole vault (7-0).
At Santa Cruz 63, SLV 17 >> Sophomore Joy Roberts took first in the 100 (12.82) and 200 (26.99) in the Cardinals’ SCCAL meet win Thursday.
The Cardinals also earned wins from seniors Heidi Green (1,600; 5:32.53), Meilia Nee (pole vault, 9-0), and Maeve Golliher (long jump, 14-9), junior Lily Gingery (400, 1:03.00) and freshman Isla Roake (800, 2:25.31).
Santa Cruz took first in the 4×100 relay (52.21) and 4×400 relay (4:21.07).
SLV senior Orea Pollock took first in the high jump (5-2).
At Harbor 54, Scotts Valley 49, Mount Madonna 22, St. Abraham’s 4 >> Senior Karmalynn Claussen-Sadeh took first in the shot put (19-2.5) and discus (54-3) to help the host Pirates win their SCCAL quad meet Thursday.
Harbor also received wins from sophomores Kiko Leiani (200, 27.70) and Julianne Sanguinetti (high jump, 4-4), and freshman Addisun Kimmel (100 hurdles, 23.08).
Scotts Valley took first in the 4×400 relay (4:30.33), and also received wins from senior Violet McCutchen (1,600; 6:01.90), and juniors Dylan Turzak (400, 1:01.70) and Jennifer Brownfield (800, 2:27.15).
Mount Madonna senior Lagi Hunnicutt took first in the 100 (13.40), long jump (15-1), and triple jump (30-8,5).
