St. Helena, CA

Enid Carol Pott (née Hensel), 91, passed peacefully in her sleep on April 2, 2024, in St. Helena, California. Born September 9, 1932, in East Orange, New Jersey, she was the second of three children to Frederick and Catherine Hensel.

Enid studied Fine Art at Wheaton College in Illinois, where she met and married Norman Dunning Pott. His studies took them to Princeton and Edinburgh, Scotland, and allowed them to travel Europe and the Middle East. Norm became a Campus Minister in Berkeley, California, as Enid balanced family and career, raising four children, teaching painting, and earning a Master’s in Gerontology from the University of Oregon. With limited job opportunities in gerontology, Enid obtained her teaching credential and taught sixth grade before becoming a successful realtor in Davis, California.

The family moved to San Rafael, where Enid continued in real estate and supported Norm’s pastorate. Norm died shortly before their 50th anniversary, but Enid persisted, traveling and relishing being a grandparent.

Enid is survived by her four children, grandchildren, and younger brother.

Enid’s life was a testament to warmth and kindness. Her love and memorable smile touched those who knew her and anyone fortunate enough to be in her presence.
