David Alan Foote passed away at his home with his family at his side on January 25, 2025 after afour year battle with prostate cancer. He was 80 years old.

Born in Denver, CO and raised in Torrance, CA, Dave attended Torrance High School, graduated with a B.S. in Engineering from Long Beach State, and earned his M.S. in Civil Engineering from USC. He worked for the Atomic Energy Commission at the Nevada Test Site, Cal Trans in Los Angeles, Nolte & Associates in San Jose, and specialized in water management as a partner of Schaaf & Wheeler, retiring in 2014.

Dave loved being a "leftie", reading, listening to classical music, woodworking ("making sawdust"), taking pictures (especially of shore birds), visiting with family and friends, sharing news articles, and collecting tools, gadgets, and model trains. He was a kind, gentle, intelligent man with the impressive ability to recall names, dates, and other facts about people and events throughout his life. A long time Episcopalian, Dave attended St. Andrew's (Saratoga) for decades and served on the vestry.

Recently, he attended St. Mary's by-the-Sea (Pacific Grove) and helped create a men's group that will continue in his memory.

Dave is survived by his wife of 57 years, Fran; his daughter Lauren; his son-in-law David; his sister, Linda Hackel; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
