A wildfire broke out Wednesday afternoon, spreading to 130 acres, burning or threatening structures and prompting evacuations at one point in the Good Hope area between Perris and Lake Elsinore.

By Thursday afternoon, containment was at 80%, officials said.

Crews responded to the Post fire around 3:52 p.m., according to Tawny Castro, a spokesperson for the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. The fire was reported in the 20800 Block of Gardenias Street and north of Highway 74, which links Lake Elsinore and Perris.

Officials said that some structures burned in the primarily residential area, but couldn’t confirm how many.

The fire’s cause was under investigation.
