• Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce announces 2nd annual Restaurant Week has been extended to a two-week culinary celebration, from March 1-16, participating restaurants will serve up special menus, discounts, for locations and promotions, visit waterfordchamber.org.

• Drive-Thru Ashes is 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Ash Wednesday, March 5, in the driveway in front of St. David’s Episcopal Church, 16200 W. Twelve Mile Road, Southfield. A robed minister will be standing outside in front of the church to administer ashes. • The Rochester Area Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Fish Fry every Friday during Lent, from March 7 through April 11, at the Rochester Community House, 816 Ludlow, Rochester. The menu includes baked or fried cod fish, mac and cheese, cole slaw, roll and butter and choice of baked potato or French fries. Adult cost is $15 and children are $8. Drinks and desserts are $1. Education/Scholarships/Workshops

• Bowman Auto Group is accepting applications for its annual scholarships for Clarkston High School graduating seniors. Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded: one for a senior pursuing education at a vocational institution or trade school, and one for a senior accepted to a 2-year or 4-year college/university in a STEAM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) field. • Write Your Book in a Day workshop sponsored by The Detroit Writing Room and Two Sisters Writing & Publishing, is 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. March 15, at the Baldwin Public Library, 300 West Merrill St., Birmingham. • Nest box volunteer training is noon-2 p.m. March 9 at Waterford Oaks Event Center at Waterford Oaks County Park, 2800 Watkins Lake Road in Waterford Twp. Oakland County Parks manages 175 nest boxes at seven parks for Eastern Bluebirds, Tree Swallows, House Wrens and Black-Capped Chickadees. Volunteers are asked to check nest boxes routinely from March through August. The training is free and open to all. • The Detroit Red Wings Alumni will face off against local hockey team, the MI-UCP Pucksters, (Michigan United Cerebral Palsy), with both teams raising money and awareness for MI-UCP. The charity event is March 15, at the St. Mary’s Arena, 3535 Indian Trail, West Bloomfield Twp. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free, donations are welcome. • Meadow Brook Hall offers Guided House Tours and Self-Guided Tours, 350 Estate Drive, Rochester. Visit meadowbrookhall.org/tours for tour times and ticket prices. Following the vandalism on Feb. 4, that destroyed some of the estate’s historic stained glass windows, Meadow Brook launched The 1929 Club, a giving program where members commit to donate $19.29 monthly. The 1929 Club will raise funds to support the care and preservation of the historic estate, kicking off with a focus on securing the $35,000 needed to restore the historic stained glass windows. • Hospice of Michigan is seeking volunteers to help patients and families dealing with life-limiting illnesses throughout southeast Michigan. Parks/Outdoor activities

• Illuminated Trail is open 5:30-8:30 p.m. weekends through March 2, at Waterford Oaks County Park, 1702 Scott Lake Road in Waterford Twp. Illuminated walking path, bathrooms in Lookout Lodge will be open for guests. This is a paved path until it nears the sledding hill. Dogs are welcome but must be on a six-foot leash.

• Maplefest 2025 is March 8-9, hourly limited timeslots from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, Tollgate Farm 28115 Meadowbrook Road, Novi, demonstration on process that turns sap into syrup, wagon ride and sample fresh maple sap, and All-You-Can-Eat Pancake breakfast.
