Readers respond to Question of the Week: Harris as our next governor?
Election 2026
There is no doubt that Harris’ name recognition would pose a formidable challenge for any other Democrat in the 2026 governor’s race. The real problem she faces is how to repair her image from the recent, disastrous presidential campaign, and sustain her relevance for the next 22 months. Who will invest in a project that blew through $1 billion in campaign funds in three months? Who will support a candidate who can’t debate or answer unscripted questions? Who will align with a policy platform that ruined our economy? Then a famous quote from P.T. Barnum comes to mind: “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

Harris governorship would be more of the same
Harris unquestioningly proved her bona fides, with all the world as witness. She’s a vapid, incoherent, unserious person who had four years to make her case. In her shot at the big time, Harris proved she’s without original policy position or idea and raced through $1billion leaving a trail of debt and meme-worthy word salads in her wake.
A Harris governorship would be “Resistance 2.0,” with reckless spending on posturing anti-Trump lawsuits. Our deficit grows, population shrinks, and we great Californians who remain will suffer. I would not vote for Harris, she’s proven ill-equipped for public servanthood. A Harris governorship will be more of the same. I ask - is it bad enough yet?

Harris as governor
Harris has an inflated ego. She lost the presidential race and now thinks she is capable of being the California governor in two years. Yes, she has DA and AG experience but in that service she let many criminals off altogether or with light sentences. She was Biden’s VP but did very little to keep our country safe claiming the border was under control and safe. As a result, many of the illegals committed murders, rape and thefts.
She couldn’t answer how she would change her administration from Biden’s claiming everything was under control. I pray the Democrats can find better candidates to run for governor. Hopefully, the Republicans can find capable people as well.
