Born in Ravenna Ohio. Survived by wife, Marilyn Ann Hilty. Son, William Hilty and wife, Jill in Grand Junction, CO. Son, Steve Hilty and wife Jennifer, in San Luis Obispo, CA. Daughter, Jodi Hilty and husband David in Canmore CAN, stepdaughter, Whitney Herzog and husband Ryan in Broomfield, CO Sister, Mary Marcum and husband, Marc in Kettering, OH.

Marilyn's daughters Timothea Lewis in Denver, CO, and deceased Samantha Lewis.

There are 15 living grandchildren. He enjoyed them to the most.

Raised in Kettering, OH, a three sport athlete at Fairmont High School. Attended DePauw University on Rector Scholarship, then Case Western Reserve Medical School on a March of Dimes and Beta Theta Pi Scholarship, received MD in 1963. Intership and residency at Cleveland Metropolitan General in Internal Medicine with a year of Cardiology.

Practiced Internal Medicine and Cardiology, office and in-patient at the Boulder Medical Center beginning in 1969, then after 1990 mainly Internal Medicine and preventive Cardiology until retiring in November 2005 after 36 years. He loved his medical pratice, staff and peers.

He was Chief of Staff of the Medical Staff at Boulder Community and Memorial Hospitals and he was chairman of the Board at the BMC. He was a Medical Director for Research at the BMC and was primary investigator for 67 pharmaceutical studies.

He was on the Boulder Valley Board of Education for six years.

He was on the board at Frazier Meadows Manor.

He married Glenda Oosterhuis in 1961 and they were married 30 years having four children. Their first child, Karen Lynn, died at sixteen months of a smallpox reaction. In 1991 he married Marilyn and remained married to her 32 years till his death. He and Marilyn enjoyed doing almost everything together. They climbed 14ers. He climbed 51 of . 54 (all after age 53), not finishing the three left because of health concerns. With son, Steve, Castle Peak 14er was a Great Clissade.

Daughter Jodi, roping them up on Little Bear was great fun and a necessity. Son Bill and wife Jill's guiding on Capital Peak was a definite high. Jodi and husband, David sharing Pyramid Peak with them was fantastic. Climbing Kilimanjaro with Jodi was among the best trips for Marilyn and Bill. He loved participating in his children's lives whole hearedly following their activities, Indian guides and princesses, coaching little league so they could concomitantly play soccer. He also headed the Boulder High Panther Club, enjoying fly fishing with his boys attending Jodi's horse events and all three kids tennis activities.

He followed their families camping, hiking and skiing was memorable.

On retirement he and Marilyn moved to Lyons where he enjoyed mountain biking the foothills (especially the the days he saw wild turkeys), and also swam regularly in Boulder. He and Marilyn enjoyed fly fishing, especially the Snake River in Idaho.

They enjoyed camping, golf, and skiing together and they enjoyed their Friday evening habit of pizza and DVDs. Later in his life he became a Christian and was a member of Calvary Bible Church. A memorial will be at a later date.
